When copper lines are brazed without protection, oxygen inside the pipe reacts with the heat to create cupric oxide (black flakes). This “soot” eventually breaks off and clogs expansion valves or destroys compressor bearings. At A/C Dr. Naz, we use a continuous nitrogen purge during every brazing operation. This displaces the oxygen, ensuring the inside of your refrigerant lines remains as clean as the day they were manufactured.
Why do some technicians skip nitrogen purging?
It takes extra time and equipment. However, skipping this step is a leading cause of “mystery” failures in high-efficiency systems and commercial refrigeration units. We consider it a non-negotiable professional standard.
